Miho dj-ed, along with Luke Vibert (aka Plug aka Wagonchrist), at P.S. 1's WARM UP 2000, a weekly summer series curated by Giant Step & PS 1 Contemporary Art Center.

In addition to the cool tunes, there is DUNESCAPE, an "urban beach" architectural installation, designed by SHoP, which means you should bring a swim suit and towel and lounge by the pools and on deck chairs and under umbrellas, before you shake your thang in the music area.

Contest Results: We had a contest asking Cibo Matto fans to name 3 previously released Beastie Boys songs with Miho on vocals?

Answer to our first contest -- congratulations to John Duncan, who was the first of many to give the correct answer. Prior to the new recording (see above), Miho has sung on 3 Beastie Boys songs on 3 different records:

  • "I Don't Know" on Hello Nasty
  • "Hail Sagan (Special K)" on Intergalactic EP (UK)

Doughty, Mark Eitzel, and others.

Sugar Relax EP

A special 40 minute 9-track EP, with remixes, new songs, improvisations and covers ranging from Antonio Carlos Jobim's exquisite "Aguas de Marco" to the Rolling Stones' "Sing This All Together." Guest chef Coldcut concocts a crazy dub-reggae reinvention of the album's pop gem "Sugar Water" and a subtly peculiar remix comes from the team of Beastie Boys Mike D., Russell Simins (of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion) and Beasties producer Mario Caldato Jr. (who produced and engineered several tracks on Super Relax including a haunting new acoustic jazz version of "Sugar Water." The EP also includes two recent Cibo Matto compositions -- "Spoon" and the riotous hip-hop 'BBQ' (recorded live 10/26/96).

"Sugar Water" video

Michael Gondry has directed a most extraordinary and unusual video -- unlike anything before it, either in music video or even experimental cinema. Like a mesmerizing M.C. Escher drawing, it simultaneously moves forwards and backwards, a complex and enthralling video that seems to defy logic yet also unravels a clever mystery story that will delight viewers again and again -- intricate details and strange symmetries reveal themselves in repeated viewings. Gondry has directed amazing videos for Bjork, Massive Attack, Black Crowes, Lenny Kravitz, Lucas, and the Cleo award-winning Rolling Stones' "Like A Rolling Stone." Gondry has declared "Sugar Water" to be "his best work yet."

Somehow amidst all their touring, Yuka and Miho found time to also record with (and even tour with) all-star side-project Butter 08 (Grand Royal Records). Additionally Miho can be heard on vocals on a Beastie Boys 7" version of "Light My Fire."

"Know Your Chicken" video directed by Evan Bernard who did the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Beastie Boys, Noise Addict and Shudder To Think.
