Okay, now if I remember correctly the US single came on one of them there fold out digipak things. The UK release was on two cds - a digipak and plastic case - with various b-sides including Turn It On (bluegrass version) recorded with various members of the Lips, Butthole Surfers and Firehose. Also here is the new track recorded at the same time as Moth called The Process. Translucent Egg is the source of the noisy riff from the final version of She Don't Use Jelly. I guess they merged that and the original version of Jelly to make the final cracking song. Anyway, Translucent Egg is great - it breaks into these washes of sound that break back into the riff and does all sorts of instrumental stuff. Moth In The Incubator is hardly changed at all but I suppose that goes to show how good this band is now, to be able to play it live like the album version. The Bluegrass version of Turn It On is frivolous and Buttholed. It's pretty fun to listen to but not that often. The porch version of Plastic Jesus is just stripped down and more winsome than the lp version. The star of the pack is The Process though. It's a magnificent instrumental that builds and builds and then fades to a beautiful buzz. If you haven't heard it, then I suggest you do so. |
