1. Talkin' Bout The Smiling Deathporn Immortality Blues (Everyone Wants To Live Forever)
2. All That Jazz/Happy Death Men
3. Jets (Cupid's Kiss Vs. The Psyche Of Death)
produced by The Flaming Lips and Dave Fridmann

This EP was The Flaming Lips very first release for Warner Bros records. I'm not sure whether it was a stop gap due to the delay of the album (due to sample clearance problems) or was meant to precede the album which was then subsequently delayed....

Whatever, this EP is subtitled Death, probably for the obvious reason that Death appears in the title of every song - Talkin' Bout The Smiling Deathporn Immortality Blues; All That Jazz/Happy Death Men; Jets (Cupid's Kiss Vs. The Psyche Of Death).

The first track is also the opener of the album Hit To Death In The Future Head, and it's a glorious wobbly rock song. The ultra deep voice in the background going `doo-wop, doo-wop-wop' never ceases to delight me. There's all manner of sounds panning across the stereo and it's got the most mentally catchy chorus ever. COOL.

The second track is a medley of two covers - Echo And The Bunnymen's All That Jazz running into Happy Death Men (kind of like it is on Crocodiles). It's really abrasive but pretty good all the same....

Final track Jets is a song that was played around with a lot in the lead up to Hit To Death. This is an early version recorded on a 2-track. It's a fantastic song but still not fully realised - none of the more final versions ever got used. It's a song about two people being in love really, and finally believing in love as a result. Beautiful.
