August 9th: A planned parking lot experiment at Tulsa was aborted when the
organisers of the car show it was to appear at decided they wanted it to
happen at 9am Sunday morning..... I personally consider that to be like the
middle of the night August 27th: The Lips showcased the 4cd set at Warner Bros Records in L.A. not all went according to plan when the amplifiers overheated. But I did get to hear the album in Oklahoma, and I can assure you that it works 100% and is pretty fantastic too.... hard to describe because it's so different - just buy it... They also did a one song parking lot experiment at Warners, which was totally cool.. fairly efficiently run and pretty mindblowing once it got going... if it comes near you, make SURE you get to hear it September 5th: The next manifestation of the parking lot technique cam at the CMJ conference in NYC - a multitude of getto blasters arranged in the same vein as the cars in the usual experiment. Apparently this is what the band may be doing for live performances in the very near future - just something a little different! Apparently, this was pretty damn cool too. September 16th: I think this was the date they headed back to the studio... not sure, but I do know they just have about half of the 'normal' album to record - ready for a January/February release it would seem. So, there y'go - hope that wasn't too lengthy! Oh, one last thing: Zaireeka will only have 5000 copies pressed. So, if you live in a place with bad record shops, you should place an order for it to make sure you get one. |
