Rod Stewart's new album is a collection of romantic ballads,
bringing together some of his best-known hits alongside several
passionate new tracks, songs from various tribute and soundtrack
projects and a few old favorites in newly polished versions. In short:
it's an essential new release that showcases the sensitive side of Rod
Stewart in an excitingly original way.
In addition to such classic Rod Stewart torch songs as "Tonight's
The Night," "You're In My Heart" and "Downtown Train," If We Fall In
Love Tonight contains three brand-new recordings. "When I Need You" is
Rod's version of a song originally sung by Leo Sayer. It was produced by
the multiplatinum team of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis (Janet Jackson). Jam
and Lewis also produced and wrote "If We Fall In Love Tonight." "For The
First Time" is the third new song; it was written and produced by James
Newton Howard.
If We Fall In Love Tonight also contains a new remix of "Have I Told
You Lately," and a completely rerecorded version of "Forever Young."
Also featured: "So Far Away," Rod's contribution to the Carole King
tribute album Tapestry Revisited, plus "All For Love," Rod's
collaboration with Sting and Bryan Adams from the soundtrack of The
Three Musketeers. Both of these tracks fit If We Fall In Love Tonight's
concept perfectly, and neither has appeared on any previous Rod Stewart
album.
